Instant Dahi vada – an amazing alternate when you are craving for lentils dahi vada. The original recipe calls for a lot of time. First soaking Urad lentil for a good amount of time and the grinding them. making balls out of it mixing some spices and then deep fryign them in oil. Only after so much of hard work do you get to eat Dahi Vada. This amazing recipe is made under 15 minutes and is just as delicious as the one made out of lentil vadas.
Adapted from the famous chef Sanjeev Kapoor’s recipe, I first saw this dish being made in a TV show and have been craving for it since then. Amazingly soft and flavorful Vada are made out of brown bread. If you serve this dish to your guests I bet that no one would ever be able to guess that the Vadas are made out of bread. It’s that delicious.
Serves – Made 6 Vadas out of 2 Bread Slices
1 Cup = 240 ml
- 2 slices brown bread wholemeal bread
- ½ cup Yogurt and mix 1/4 water
- ½ tsp Cumin powder
- Pink salt to taste
- ¼ Chilly flakes or red chilly powder
- Chopped cilantro for garnishing
Instructions for making Bread Dahi Vada:
Trim off the edges of the bread slices. Break and transfer into a bowl.
Now add cumin powder, salt to taste, chilli flakes and appx. 6 tbs yogurt mixed with appx. 1 or 2 tbs water and knead into a dough.
Now divide the dough into 6 balls of equal sizes. Flatten them a bit and place the vadas aside.
Now pour some yogurt into a serving plate and place the Vadas on top. Pour some Mint Chutney or Coriander Chutney. Add another layer of Yogurt. Now pour some Tamarind Chutney and sprinkle some chopped Cilantro on top for garnishing.
Soft and delicious Dahi Vadas are ready. Serve immediately.
